It is an ideal thought, but realistically it doesn't always happen that way.

If it were Twin Springs rather than Twin Valley and the game was at Clinchco, I can almost guarantee you that were would be some Haysi fans in the Radford section Saturday night.

But when it comes to post-season, I think you should root for the "locals", no matter how bad you hated them last month. After all, they're rep'ing your area/conf./dist.

    Re: Will There Be.......

How did TV get so good so quick? Five years isn't a lot of time and even with the consolidation, TV should still have a pretty small enrollment, correct? From my recollections, and again I've been gone for awhile, the traditional powers were Hurley, Haysi, and more recently Council. I don't ever remember Garden or Whitewood being in the hoops mix. I might be wrong, but those are my recollections. I remember PV playing GW Carver in the '87 quarterfinals when GW was the defending state champ. We got beat and they got beat in the semis. They had a bunch of sophs. They won it all, again, in '88 and then consolidated with Drery Mason in '89. Won the AA title in the first year. That was impressive, but they had all that talent, tradition, and tourney experience from the previous three years. I think it's neat that a smaller, new school has got it clicking so quickly.

I also remember the bus ride to Garden, Hurley, etc. as being the "bus rides from hell." I still talk about it. Good luck to TV and TS.

    Re: Will There Be.......

Twin Valley has been building for a couple of years. Last year, they made it to the Region D tournament but they were defeated in the early round.

I think TV is probably at the peak of a cycle right now.

The mix of the BDD has changed slightly. Council, who has been a powerhouse in the past, had a rough year. Haysi had a pretty good team this year, but all were a few notches below Twin Valley.

As cycles go, I expect Council to be back in the championship picture in the next few years.
